Colima, Mexico ......
Colima is both a state and a city. More precisely, Colima is the capital city of Colima. The city of Colima is located a one-hour drive northeast of Manzanillo on a superior toll-road, or 265 km. (165 miles) south of Puerto Vallarta. Colima is the fourth smallest state in Mexico.
With 140 km. (87 miles) of beach, and an average of 350 days of sunshine, it makes for a perfect relationship. Three-quarters of the state is mountainous, with the Sierra Madres' dominating the
landscape.
With a state population of just under 1 million, fishing is a popular livelihood, with catches including tuna, red snapper, mullet, octopus, lobster, crab and shrimp.
To the west, east and north, Colima is bordered with the state of Jalisco; to the southeast it's the state of Michoacan. To the southwest, of course, is the Pacific Ocean.
The map below shows the state of Colima, it's main cities, including the capital city of Colima, and, of course, Manzanillo. To appreciate the state of Colima relative to the country of Mexico, see the map provided in "About Manzanillo".
